"No teacher should ever have to pay out of their pocket for necessary supplies for their students."

As your commissioner, I will work diligently on the issues facing our local schools and the resources we must have. We need to ensure that our education system is second to none. Education is the key to creating a better future for our children and our economy. We must make sure our schools have the resources to prepare our young people to succeed at the university level and trained to meet job requirements for the new technologies of the 21st century. No teacher should ever have to pay out of their pocket for necessary supplies for their students.  I will support and work with our public schools to strengthen our pre-K programs. We must also be flexible and have the ability to train and re-train to support existing industries and ensure that we have a trained workforce for any new industry willing to locate here. Education is an investment that will promote a strong job outlook and prosperous county and improve all our lives.

It is time to quit putting money on the rear end and put it at the front end where it belongs so that children are ready to learn when they enter school. Public education is what made this country great. It has brought people from different backgrounds together and it has lifted millions out of poverty.

“To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life breathed easier because you lived. This is to have succeeded.”

"This is who I believe we are as a community. So let us go together, and as Stevenson said, plant the seeds of a better future for Haywood County by supporting me in November."
